Wind God and Thunder God

World-class Japanese art is revived with jewelry paintings.
One of collections of Kenninji Temple in Kyoto. Wind God and Thunder God Folding Screen (National Treasure) is deposited by Kyoto National Museum (currently) and painted by Sotatsu Tawaraya in the Edo period. “Tarashikomi” is one of the painting methods that Tawaraya Sotatsu were highly evaluated. “Tarashikomi” is a technique that creates a unique expression by applying light-colored paint and dripping a dark color before it dries to create bleeding. It is used for the clouds on which the wind god and thunder god are on the folding screen, and it expresses an indescribable sense of dynamism. In addition, it is no exaggeration to say that the gorgeous world of gold leaf on the entire background is also the charm of Edo painting. We have created a new
work of such world-class Japanese art using the technique of jewelry painting .
